Bronze sculpture depicting mustang on hind legs by Roy M. Harris. Inscription reads: "The symbol of the spirit of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, was unveiled April 23, 1982 during the Golden Anniversary celebration of Poly Royal under the auspices of the Cal Poly Alumni Association. The statue was sculpted by longtime Cal Poly animal Physiologist Roy M. Harris, a cowboy-turned-professor-turned sculptor."
